2bad, I didn't mean to hijack your thread...just couldn't figure out how to start a new one. My apologies!

message from designer stubble to the former jwr members.
first of all i am glad to see that many of you have found your way to this great forum, facilitated by simon.
i am sure that after the dust of the jwr shutdown has settled, you will find this to be a good new home.. i would like to apologize for the sudden closure of jwr.
C'mon folks...DS doesn't deserve this. He came on here to try and do some damage control and some of you are being a bit extreme with your criticisms. As for Rifter...he screwed up. Never once did he claim to be a psychologist, however. HE kept the site going after someone else needed to get out. We all wish it had been done differently but maybe we should step back and get some perspective here. Nobody died, after all.

Hey jwundubbed,
I am really glad to find you here. You always give us something to think about, though we may not always agree. Trying to put myself in the position of someone new to JWR for whatever reason...if it were me, I would have kept searching or made an appointment with a therapist, or called a hotline of necessary. I do understand that some may feel too vulnerable to trust another site. I get it. And I'm not saying that I agree with the way JWR was shut down. I DO wish we'd been given some time and support. But it wasn't my decision...and none of us can be responsible for the reactions of thousands of people. It's difficult for all of us to one degree or another...I'm just doing my best to respond like an adult while presenting another way to look at things. That's all.

Hi Mia...I'm trying to figure it out too. Hope to see you around!

you can all call me jess, i guess you can say i'm a "refugee" from jwr.
i'm going to try and keep this short for now, i'm in my early 20s, i was born in but never baptized, i've been mentally out for 7 years and fully out for about 5ish.
despite never having been baptized my fading took quite a bit of time and work.
Hi Jess, I'm coming from JWR too. So proud of you for the progress you've made. Good to know another art girl here!
Hugs,

i just came over from jwr.
a little background: my mom converted to the witnesses when i was five.
i was baptized at 14, was mentally out by 18, and successfully faded by the time i was 25. mom and both my younger sisters and their families are still in.
Hey wayward, I'm here from JWR as well...good to see you here!

i just wanted to take a minute to say "hi" and welcome to the site for anyone who's come here from jwr.
i can imagine the site being shut down suddenly was shocking and unsettling for many who relied on it and sometimes you don't realize how much you do rely on something until it is gone.. hopefully you'll see some of the same familiar names appearing and be able to reconnect with people you knew via this site and continue your journey together.
i don't know what the posting policies on jwr were but know it as a moderated site so can't imagine them being hugely different to the ones here.
Thank you for being here for us Simon and Angharad. I for one am not tech savvy, so I will be appreciating your help!

It's good to see so many of you here. The decision to shut JWR down was done in a, well, interesting way, but Rifter is a no nonsense kind of guy! I am sure that a great deal of thought went into this decision and that he knew, as I do, that it's going to be fine. Those of us who need to can find each other here, and for some of us it is an opportunity to think about moving on as well. It's so nice for us to be able to come and go as we please; mods don't get to do that. So thank you Rifter, Palimpsest, DS, Moxie, Mickey Mouse and everyone who kept JWR going as long as you did. It was a wonderful place to heal.
Hugs,
